With five acclaimed top 10 albums, multiple ARIA Awards and countless sold out tours to his name, Josh Pyke has firmly established himself as one of Australia’s most respected and beloved artists. Longevity in music is a rare beast, but Pyke has proved that timeless songwriting trumps all. Known for his ability to weave intelligent lyrics with warm melodies and quirky song structures, he is a modern-day storyteller whose unique and evocative use of both words and music places him in a league of his own. The multi-layered melodies on ‘Circle of Light’ give it a hippie feel and while he’s keeping his fans happy with new music, Pyke said the songs on To Find Happiness aren’t about being happy. “They’re about how happiness is often fleeting, often brief, often complex, and often as coloured by loss as it is by love. Pyke not only writes song lyrics, he’s a children’s book author. His book Family Tree was named the 2022 Australian Library and Information Association National Simultaneous Storytime book, and will be read by more than a million children this year. He’s also recently launched a podcast with singer songwriter Elana Stone called It’s Raining Mentors, which delves into the complexities of record labels, booking agents and the live music scene.
